How will the program briefing process work?

This session is an opportunity for applicants and their parents to meet with individuals from the Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre.   Both the student and their parents / guardians are required to attend the debriefing session.  Specific details will be included in your invitation.

Where is the briefing going to be held?

The Program Briefing will take place at the Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre. A Map directing students from UW to the Flight Centre is available.

How do I get to the flight classes at Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre?

You will be required to find transportation arrangements to the Flight Centre on your own.  Please note, there is no public transportation that will take you to the Flight Centre.

What if I want to go home in the summer, how do I complete the flight training that is required?

The Spring/Summer terms do represent the optimal time frame for completing your flight training.  The flight training must be completed at the Wellington-Waterloo Flight Centre so arrangements will need to be made for you to be in Waterloo for the Spring/Summer Terms.

What jobs can I get after I finish my Aviation program at UW?

One of the benefits of the Geography and Aviation and Science and Aviation programs is that the flight training is in addition to your traditional acadmic studies in each of those disciplines.  As a result, you will be able to pursue careers associated with graduates in each of the academic areas (geography or science) along with additional careers as indicated on the specific careers websites for Geography and Aviation and Science and Aviation.  Our first class just graduated this past year, however we do not have specific career data from them yet. The majority of them are planning to pursue careers as pilots.

What are the fees?

We have created a special page to cover the break down of the fees for these programs.

What if I already have my private pilot’s license?

You will be able to sit out on some of the initial flight training, while your classmates obtain their private pilot’s license. You will not be able to get ahead in the flight training, as the whole class stays together as a cohort and completes benchmarks together on a fixed schedule. You will begin flying with your class near the end of the summer after your first year of the program. Some of the flight training costs may be reduced. Please contact Tammy Adams at the flight centre for details.
